2020 Newark Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee!

Born and raised in Newark’s Pennington Court Projects, Naazir Jackson overcame adversity through sports. A standout athlete at Eastside High, he became the school’s all-time leader in rushing yards and touchdowns. After college ball at SUNY, UConn, NJCU, and St. Peter’s, he founded Rising Stars Sports Academy, impacting over 4,000 youth through football, dance, and mentorship. Also a decorated firefighter and youth advocate, Jackson’s legacy continues through his family and unwavering service to his community.

Rising Stars Sports Academy

Rising Stars Sports Academy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring children of various ages and backgrounds to achieve health through a lifetime of sports and fitness by building a foundation of critical thinking, leadership, compassion, and imagination. Our coaches are athletes, educators, dancers,

and mentors who all recognize the benefits and long-term impact that a balanced sports-based youth

program has in our community. Providing affordable quality childcare is at the core of our origin and at the heart of our mission.

Rising Stars Sports Academy’s Fun Day is packed with carnival-style games, friendly competitions, music, and sweet treats. Kids build confidence, teamwork, and lasting friendships through exciting activities and nonstop laughter; making it the highlight of the summer.
